Sutton included three members of the reserve team in the line up, among them Amy Wright, who had scored a hat trick for the reserves in last week’s Surrey Divisional Cup win at Old Tiffinians, and U’s defended well in the first half in to the wind with Marni Humphries making several good saves, but the home side eventually broke through and had doubled their lead by half time.

There was hope that with the strong wind behind them in the second half that U’s might be able to produce a comeback but a quickfire burst of goals at the start of the second half put Actonians in an unassailable position, six up after little more than an hour, and they added two more near the end to book their place in the quarter finals.

Team M Humphries, S Modak, E Meehan, H Thomas, L Lynn, A Measures, E Spear, A Cutler, A Wright, M South, C Francis. Subs C Savage, L Malcolm, J Backhurst, P Williams.

Next Sunday Sutton are at home to London & South East Regional League leaders Fulham, with the game being played at South Park FC, kick off 4pm. There is no game for the reserves, while the development side are at home to Reigate, venue to be confirmed.
