Sutton United Fans' Game this Sunday

5 May 2024

Sunday sees two teams of Sutton United fans go head-to-head on the pitch at Gander Green Lane in our annual Sutton United Fans' Game. Last year saw Jimmy Dack’s team (above) victorious against their rivals led by Sutton fan Nick the Greek. And this year is set to be an even bigger affair.

This year’s managers can now be revealed.

Our first manager is no stranger to football, having been at Manchester City and Portsmouth as a youngster, representing England at under 16 and under 17 level, before playing for a number of non-league Clubs, including Bishop’s Stortford and Boreham Wood. He is better known now to Sutton fans as our very own Assistant Head Coach Anthony Fenton.

Our second manager is probably best known for his time at Wimbledon, where he made over 100 appearances, before making over 50 appearances at Oxford United. He’s had two spells on the pitch for Sutton United, first in 2004-2005 making 23 appearances, before returning later in 2005 to make a further 25 appearance before leaving in 2007, he is of course the one and only Peter Fear.

A coin toss will decide which side gets home/away dressing rooms.

It is set to be a great afternoon, kick off is at 3.00pm, with the bar open and food available from 2.00pm.

There will also be a raffle with some great Sutton United prizes on offer, with all profits from the day going to the club.

Entry is free, so do come on down and watch your fellow supporters battle it out to try to be the next team to lift “The Shoebox Memorial Trophy”.
